In the ever-evolving realm of web development, it is important for Angular developers to keep growing and getting better. By improving your skills and following best practices, you can become a stronger Angular developer and achieve great results.
Having attended many Angular interviews, I have noticed some areas where candidates often struggle. So I will explore some key areas that can help you level up your Angular development skills.
Master TypeScript. Understand the benefits of TypeScript for improved code quality and management - it is not a formality on top of JavaScript, it is the tool that lets you make a whole class of bug impossible.
Harness the power of RxJS. Learn how to use Observables, operators and Subjects for efficient handling of asynchronous operations, and learn which of them you actually need.
Embrace testing and debugging. Familiarise yourself with testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma and Cypress, and develop strong debugging skills - reading a stack trace properly saves more time than any shortcut.
Manage memory. To avoid memory leaks and keep the application fast: unsubscribe from events when they are no longer needed, clean up event listeners, avoid circular references, and use the OnPush change detection strategy.
