RTHS: A Low-Cost High-Performance Real-Time Hardware Sorter, Using a Multidimensional Sorting Algorithm
Authors:A. NorollahD. DerafshiH. BeitollahiM. Fazeli

Parallel hardware sorters are fast, but the logic they need grows quickly with the number of inputs. RTHS is a multidimensional, matrix-based sorting algorithm with its own hardware architecture, built to cut that cost without giving up speed. The same design also works as a min/max queue, or for picking out the largest or smallest records in a large data set. How it compares with bitonic sorting networks on a Virtex-7 FPGA is in the paper.
